About the Illinois Alliance for Continuing Medical Education

IACME is a state-wide organization modeled on the national Alliance for Continuing Medical Education (ACME), a national trade association for CME professionals. As the Alliance grew and CME professionals from Illinois recognized its value, the idea for the Illinois Alliance for Continuing Medical Education (IACME) was born. The first meeting of the IACME was held in December of 1989 with 25 members. With the exception of a few years when three meetings were held, most years two meetings were convened. In 1993, the first Board of Directors was elected, and in 1994 the group incorporated. According to our bylaws, our Board can have between 7 and 12 members. There are five officers: President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President (who each serve one year terms), Secretary and Treasurer (who serve staggered two year terms).
